Generations | The Hamilton Family {Katy, TX photographer}

“A happy family is but an earlier heaven.”

-George Bernard Shaw-

The {grown} Hamilton kids gifted their dad with a family photo session this Father’s Day, and we were finally able to gather this past weekend to capture them all together. What a gorgeous family! They love to laugh and poke fun at one another, but there was no mistake about the pride that Dad (and Grandad!) felt for his family.blog1 blog2 blog3 blog4 blog5 blog6Thank you, Hamiltons, for the honor of photographing you!

{On a personal note…} I recently learned of the passing of one of my clients. While doing the session for this particular precious family, I knew this family member was ill and this was likely going to be the last time they would be photographed together with their family. Having photos of loved ones is so very important, special, and at some point, irreplaceable. If you are considering a photo session with your family, or with a certain loved one, please don’t delay. Please do not let that “last bit of baby weight/10lbs/gray hair/right season” or whatever might be your personal hesitations in being photographed with your family and loved ones stand in the way — surprise them with a session! I would be happy to help. 🙂

Maternity Session | Luis & Lindsay

blog1 Meet Luis and Lindsay, who will be welcoming little Landon later this spring!blog2 This adorable couple was so much fun to work with. Sweet Lindsay has the best attitude towards pregnancy and all it’s ups and downs, and Luis was amazing and incredibly attentive to her. I had to smile and have an “aww…” moment each time he would offer her some water, or assist her with her shoes, or simply just love on her as you see in these photos. (Now you’re looking at them and going “aww…” aren’t you?! 😉 hehe!)blog3 blog4 blog5 blog6 blog7 I am so excited to see this sweet couple again in May when their little boy arrives!! Be on the lookout for Landon’s debut on the blog in a couple months… 🙂blog8

Family Session | Eric, Becca & Josh

Check out my nephew and his mom and dad! 🙂

This blonde-haired boy is about to be five this weekend. FIVE. My middle son turned five today. They are growing too fast! Becca and I were reminiscing this evening about how we really threw the nurses at the hospital both of us delivered our boys at for a loop — I was discharged the day that she was admitted to have Josh. Both of us got some very odd looks and questions! She had nurses saying “Mrs. Griffin… wait, didn’t you leave today?” and I had nurses stopping me when I came back to the hospital to visit and meet Josh, saying “Um, there are no returns here.” Haha!

Obviously, I digress. This post is about a beautiful branch of my family — my husband’s brother, Eric, and his little crew. I consider it an honor for anyone to ask me to take their family photographs, but for family to ask me… that adds another layer of jaw-dropping awe that I would be trusted with so much.

Thank you, Eric and Becca, for allowing me to see you through the lens and hopefully record some memories for years to come. Xoxo.

Family Session | The Burris Family

I have so enjoyed the opportunity to photograph this family for two years now. The Burris’ are incredibly smart, talented, and very busy with their two beautiful tow-headed boys!

After a rocky start (the little one just wasn’t “feeling it” when we initially met that morning) we ended up having a great, relaxed time together. I absolutely love the images that came from this session. My hope with this session, as with all sessions, is that it’s a true representation of this time in their lives — remembering the sweet little smiles, the moments of brothers learning to play together, and even moments of nearly-two-year-old stubbornness.

We are all given one life to live, and all the moments that add up to make this life are unique and beautiful in their own time. I love that the art of photography helps us to remember those tiny, precious moments.
